On the 4th of March, the Hout Bay Valley pre-primary school organised a fundraising competition. The challenge you ask? To build the best sandcastle to hit the shores of Cape Town. The beach was packed with children, parents, teachers, dogs and anyone interested in building something creative out of sand.
The Underdog team created a dog with baggy ears that stole the hearts of participants and spectators alike. Its nose, eyes and paws were made with shells and we even made it a water bowl. After an intense judging of all the participants involved, the Underdog team walked away with first prize and a shiny trophy that couldn’t outshine the smiles on the kids’ faces.
The money raised by the competition will be used to provide educational bursaries to under-privileged children from the Hout Bay community to attend Valley Pre-Primary School.
